    • For laptops and self-managed Mac and Windows devices, manual installation might be necessary.
      • To install fonts on Windows laptops, manually unzip the file, select all fonts, and right-click to start the installation.
      • On Mac, users can install fonts with standard user rights.

    • This is a licensed font from Adobe that can be legally used in products it is sold with, such as Adobe Illustrator. If the font is used in documents intended for editing, not just reading, a paid license is required for each workstation where this is done, unless the workstation has Adobe software that includes the font.
    • Instead, use the new institute font Roboto, a suitable free alternative.
  • Consult with graphic designers regarding the use and suitability of fonts.

What do I need to consider for the long-term use of fonts?

For long-term planning and creating templates for widespread use, opt for free fonts (e.g., Open Source) to avoid losing license for further use if the font is dropped in a new software version.

Most fonts are tied to a software license. If you have legally purchased the software, you are allowed to use the fonts legally, but only on the computer or user for whom the software is licensed. It is not allowed to distribute the fonts themselves! What is allowed and what is not is detailed in the license terms of the fonts or the software that comes with these fonts.

Using non-free fonts without the consent of the copyright holder is a copyright infringement. Publishing, distributing, or reproducing someone's works without their consent can lead to penalties. Copyright infringements can result in both civil and criminal consequences.

There are also FREE fonts available.
