Public file sharing

Overview

You may want to simply send some data (files, folders or file trees) from inside the institute to an external receiver or the other way around. Even if minor access control exists, the share location has to be considered public. Personal-associated data MUST NOT be put there!

Getting started

The share location can be accessed at these two addresses (which always contain the same content):

Inside the institute:

Use the folder

/afs/cbs.mpg.de/tmp/internet

Outside the institute:

Use a FTP (File Transfer Protocol) software. Necessary information to use the service:
  • Server: ftp.cbs.mpg.de
  • User: ftp
  • Password: mpi4cbs
  • Port: 21
  • Folder: /pub
  • Transfer mode: Passive (Active is NOT supported)
  • Recommended software (Linux, MacOSX, Windows): FileZilla
